About this Catfight

Some women travel to Fighting Style events because they are lifelong martial artists who love testing their technique against other skilled female competitors.

Others go because they simply love to fight.

Hera and Nike represent those two very different worlds.

Hera is a fit, athletic and experienced Judoka who has spent years training in traditional martial arts. At this year’s Fighting Style summer event, she is enjoying the opportunity to wrestle women from different backgrounds and see how her technique translates outside the familiar structure of Judo.

Nike has no formal martial arts training at all.

What she does have is confidence, toughness and a genuine love of fighting.

The tension between them begins away from the mats.

One day while the women are having lunch, Nike starts teasing Hera about the fact that she has not taken part in any of the rougher catfights at the event. Hera explains that she came to Fighting Style to wrestle and test her martial arts skills, not to get involved in those kinds of matches.

Nike keeps pushing.

She taunts Hera, suggests she is scared and tells her she would not stand a chance in a real fight.

The atmosphere quickly changes.

Rather than continue arguing, the two women decide to settle things immediately and head down to the beach for a wrestling match.

Technically, this is still a submission wrestling contest.

But it does not feel like an ordinary sparring match.

The bad blood created during their argument carries straight onto the sand, and every takedown attempt, grip fight and scramble is noticeably more aggressive than usual.

Hera tries to use her years of Judo experience, balance and technical control to dictate the match.

Nike takes a much more instinctive approach.

With no formal training to fall back on, she relies on strength, aggression and determination, constantly forcing Hera to deal with unpredictable pressure rather than the structured attacks she is used to facing.

That contrast makes the match fascinating.

Can a lifelong Judoka use technique to control an opponent who has never trained formally?

Or can Nike’s raw toughness and willingness to fight disrupt Hera’s technical advantage?

The beach adds another complication, with the shifting sand making balance and movement more difficult for both women.

For fans searching for Fighting Style women’s wrestling, beach wrestling, Judoka vs untrained fighter, female martial artist vs fighter, aggressive women’s wrestling, competitive submission grappling, women wrestling in the sand and Fighting Style rivalry matches, Hera vs Nike offers a compelling clash of experience and instinct.

One woman has spent years learning how to fight.

The other simply loves doing it.

And after a lunchtime argument becomes personal, Hera and Nike head straight to the beach to find out which approach works better when the talking stops and the wrestling begins.
